Origin:
I was up one night, unable to sleep and re-watching an old YouTube series of someone playing a videogame called Jazzpunk and this caused me to go down a rabbit hole inside my mind. At first, it made me think of a fifties/sixties styled future similar to the new Fantastic Four but knowing how I am, I would just end up drawing cars with no wheels claiming they were levitating which not only would be a waste of time but also would be a waste of semi good half cars but going further down the rabbit hole I thought of something else.
Despite the game having a partial lack of visible story besides go complete missions given to you and overall being quite random, there is one piece of visible story in it.
You play a human if not the only human in a world of robots. This had me thinking of how relevant this can be nowadays and how AI and technology is so integrated into our society to the point it is capable of mimicking another human being so much that we have literal tests to say we're not robots as well as how much the internet has desensitised us all that we might as well be robots or even zombies due to our lack of basic humanity at times especially when on the internet and it's at THIS point I realised maybe being up at 1am wasn't good for me and should go to sleep but the idea stuck even at a more reasonable time of day.
I wanted to draw a man stuck in a world of robots but keeping with Jazzpunk and having a somewhat comedic and/or random value and I remembered enjoying the works of Jean Jullien and decided to use his art style for a bit of fun and portray this theme.
