For this project, we had to pick either to create illustrations for an article, classic literature, children's book or song lyrics. I chose to do song lyrics and specifically for Arctic Monkeys.
At first, I couldn't pick which song between "I Wanna Be Yours" and "Why Do You Only Call Me When You're High?" so I instead did analysis and a few thumbnails for both to see which gave me more ideas and decide from there.
Below is what media tie-ins they made me think of for imagery inspiration.
Easter Break
Final Designs
This I struggled with as originally I thought of completing these digitally but sadly my iPad of eight years had died for good. My second thought was to use acrylic paint but unfortunately, due to only having cadmium red paint, I couldn't get the correct colour palette I wanted. The third thought was to use acrylic pens but these would be too finicky and time-consuming to get completed in time. My only option (that I could think of at the time) was to use watercolours to get the correct colours and then use photoshop later on to fix any issues (such as forgetting to remove the sketch lines afterwards, if the paint looked too dark or too light in certain places, etc).
For the monograph design, I went for something simple, similar to the album cover of where the song I chose comes from,

To improve, I would only use photoshop or illustrator to create these final pieces to avoid the colours seeming patchy in areas and to get straighter lines for a more smooth and clean look. I would also practice more on my perspective as the windows and doors seem off and the whole thing just seems rushed despite the fact I just have an unsteady hand so I would also attempt to find a solution for that as well.
